Episode 111: Passenger 57 (1992)

Wesley Snipes plays an anti-terroism expert who just so happens to board a plane with an international terrorist in the 1992 movie, Passenger 57.

In the first episode of our 1990’s Airplane Hijacking Trilogy, we discuss a villain who surgically changes his face but keeps his mullet, an airline that upgrades a terrorist but not their new Vice President, and a one-liner that’s memorable but is actually awful advice. We also talk about the cast of Star Wars Episode IX before finding out if Passenger 57 stands the Test of Time.

Oh god, it was so, so bad. I couldn’t remember whether I’d seen it, but you picked it apart so thoroughly, and it really sounds totally idiotic.

My first thought about getting on the plane through the landing gear was also “Toy Story 2”. Though I also remember a real-life story where a guy climbed onto a plane through the landing gear, but what he didn’t account for was that when it closed, the whole mechanical structure folded together and he was chopped up; frozen chunks then fell off at the destination point when the gear opened.

So I don’t know how exactly Wesley Snipes’ character climbed in, but I would not expect him to live…
