Episode 311: Minority Report (2002)

In the year 2054, murders are predicted and stopped before they happen. It seems like a perfect system, until the head of the program is accused of a future homicide.

Listen as we discuss this movie’s homage to Timecop, winning an Oscar for chewing gum, and why we’ll never have flying cars. Then we find out if Minority Report stands the Test of Time.

It’s one of those episodes when I don’t get to listen to you savoring and analyzing the entire movie from the beginning to the end; it seems you got sidetracked in the middle, while I was so looking forward to hearing what you had to say about the bits with the greenhouse and the eye surgery—and the three outstanding supporting actors in the second half of the movie! It’s always fun when you mention people who get the small parts. And I don’t mean the eye 😀 It’s often such a pity the podcast episode cannot be longer to have room for everything!

And yeah, I agree with your point on the jetpacks and the flying cars.

Mad props for mentioning the director of photography, too. He’s amazing; whenever I see his name in the opening credits, I know I’m in for a treat. (Also, it’s pronounced “Yanush”, as he’s Polish.)
